Delta Hospital needs funding for new critical surgical equipment

This month, proceeds from the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation’s 50/50 raffle will go towards funding a new minimally invasive surgical tower for Delta Hospital’s busy surgical program as they work through the backlog of postponed surgeries due to COVID-19.

This critically needed piece of equipment, the Stryker MIS Surgical Tower, redefines surgical technology and patient care. It was designed from the ground up for seamless standardization and ease of use across multiple specialties. This platform is the most comprehensive Minimally Invasive Video System that suits all surgical procedures performed at Delta Hospital: orthopedic, general, gynecology and urology.

Its 4K-visualization imaging allows health-care professionals to see beyond what the naked eye can see and adjust their surgical patterns to do more for their patients. The system’s ability to manage surgical smoke and particles not only helps to maintain consistently clear images throughout the procedure, but also improves operating room workflow and workplace safety.

Delta Hospital’s Surgical Services Department in one of the busiest programs in Fraser Health with the best patient outcomes. Additionally, over 40 surgeons from communities throughout the Lower Mainland have operating privileges at Delta Hospital, which means their surgical day program sees many patients from the following communities: Abbotsford, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Delta, Langley, New Westminster, Richmond, Surrey, White Rock and Vancouver.

Hard hit by COVID-19 and departmental closures, the surgical department is now increasing endoscopy services to work through the backlog of postponed procedures and grow the volume of these procedures into the future. Close to 10,000 procedures were performed in 2019/2020 (pre-COVID), a number that is expected to grow with the increased surgical demands on the hospital.

The public can help raise funds for this surgical tower by purchasing tickets for this 50/50 fundraiser.

The next deadline to buy your tickets is Oct 29, 2021 at noon; the draw will take place at 2 p.m. Tickets are three for $10, 20 for $20, 100 for $40. Anyone 19+ in B.C. can buy tickets monthly for their chance to win and support Delta Hospital.
